We see the occasional double axel in Juvenile here in the Southwest Pacific region but mostly the girls really need a double axel for intermediate (which can sometimes be frustrating since that's the level you "age" into, whether you like it or not! My daughter is competing pre-Juvenile this season (which is awesome since she broke her ankle during the 5 minute warm up at a competition in September and was off the ice completely for 3 months and then had to relearn everything) and has just started landing her double lutz but to move up to Juvenile here, she would really need a solid double lutz double loop so we'll be hanging out here for awhile. Luckily she's 11 so she has time. Sadly, she looks 12 or 13 which doesn't work out so great against the tiny girls who look 7. Ah well... As long as she does a little bit better in each competition than she did in the last... that's all we ask for.Helicopter Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13585672541812317820noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-466093691926458332.post-80930441199183013342011-07-12T16:19:03.245-05:002011-07-12T16:19:03.245-05:00Just want to add that a double axel at a Juvenile ...Just want to add that a double axel at a Juvenile competition is still a pretty exciting thing to watch, and really something that the whole crowd gets behind. Everyone knows what a feat this is - how much hard work and how plain scary it can be. There's a lot of "whoa...that's cool!"<br /><br />But yes, as another poster said, a Juvenile double axel is not the same thing as a Novice double axel. That's what I meant by not exceptional. I mean, I hope I never see the day when I'm ho-hum about a 12 year old knocking off a double axel, lol.josetteplank.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16790825543155685363noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-466093691926458332.post-40879437851841016492011-07-12T15:47:08.109-05:002011-07-12T15:47:08.109-05:00anonymom-- not at all! Those events are at the Gold, the Masters Int/Nov and Masters Jun/Sen level. (But there are non-championship events at those levels too for skaters who couldn't go, or didn't place high enough at sectionals.)<br /><br />And adult nationals has interpretive events, and solo dance.Jessimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05442665425448000014noreply@blogger.com
