ReplyDeleteChildren can be very tricky... My mom did not take a stand on tying my skates for me until I was 12 or 13. I do recall complaining about my hands and arms and all sorts of things just to have her do it for me... Eventually she took a stand on the matter and started dropping me off until I did it myself. I do however, believe that I would have started doing it myself anyways, as the embarrassment of having my mom tie my skates for me would have set it after not too long.
Particularly in the skate tying, parents do this because the kids are slow, and the parents hear the clock ticking on the coaching fee. But kids are slow because they know the parent is going to do it.
